There is something profoundly beautiful and transformative about giving birth. It’s not just a physical event. Birth is a sacred rite of passage, a spiritual unfolding, and a return to an ancient knowing that lives in us all.
When I work with couples preparing for the awe-inspiring journey of labour and birth, I don’t offer a one-size-fits-all plan. Instead, I listen deeply. I meet you where you are, and together we explore what you need to feel empowered, connected, and prepared for your upcoming labour and birth of your baby, on all levels.
Yes, we talk about practical preparation. But we also go deeper. We dive into the subconscious.
We shift from left-brain thinking—the analytical, logical space—into the right-brain realm of creativity, intuition, and embodiment. This is where transformation happens. This is where we reconnect with inner wisdom.
Some of the tools I use to support this deep preparation include:
Guided Meditation
Birth Art
Drawing the Labyrinth
Drumming and Sound Work
These practices are not simply creative outlets; they are ways to practice surrender, to learn to trust your body and intuition, to soften into the unknown, and to reclaim the strength that may be buried beneath layers of fear or conditioning.
In our work together, you’ll be invited to reframe the story of labour and birth, not as something to endure, but as something to embrace. If fear or anxiety is present, we’ll explore those feelings with compassion, and then gently shift the narrative. We’ll use new language, your choice of words, crafted from your own affirmations, rooted in your own experience and values.
Together, we’ll reflect on the messages we’ve absorbed about labour since childhood and begin the powerful work of rewriting that script.
You’ll explore your internal resources. Your partner will learn how to offer grounded, steady support using tools and techniques that align with your values and needs. And as a team, we’ll work to create a space of protection, free from distraction, so you can remain anchored, centered, and deeply connected to your body, your baby, and the unfolding miracle of birth.
My practice is informed by my studies with the School of Shamanic Womencraft and Birthing from Within. These teachings honour the mystery of birth and the innate wisdom within us all.
This is not just preparing for birth as in what goes in the hospital bag. It’s a sacred remembering. It is the deep beauty of giving birth.
